Jim's Journey

"The Alaskan Bull-worm!" yelled Jim as his friends and him had crossed the Canadian-American border into Alaska. Jim then knew in that moment that the only way for his friends and him to make it to the Dave and Busters in Alaska, and complete their life long goal of visiting every Dave and Busters in America, was to use the boxes of paper clips he had and fashion a rope out of them to wrangle the beast and tame it. Jim stressed to his friend Bill that if he did not get over his fear of driving semi-trucks, and just take the wheel ,there was no way that any of the friends would make it out of there and to the Dave and Busters in Eagle River, Alaska. As Bill took control of the massive vehicle Jim interlocked the paper clips and formed a noose to get around the bull-worm's throat. As Jim lassoed the beast he realized that the normal paper clips would not work, but that he would have to use a lasso of paper clips blessed by Morgan Freeman himself. Luckily in that moment Jim's friend Terrence remembered that he had invited Morgan Freeman as a surprise for his buddies once they reached the Dave and Busters in Alaska and he was inside the trailer of the semi-truck. Terrence quickly climbed out of the truck's cab and into the trailer attached to the big rig. He called out to Morgan to only find out that nobody was there. Terrence thought to himself, " No! We hooked up to the wrong trailer." He began to think of what the friends could now do to survive and he realized that the bull-worm should not be attacking them for they were Americans and the bull-worm was supposed to stop Canadians illegally crossing the border. Terrence ecstatically exclaimed to his friends, " Stop attacking the bull-worm and it will leave us alone, it is here to stop Canadians!" Sadly for some reason Terrence's theory did not pan out as the bull-worm relentlessly continued it's onslaught.  The bull-worm attacked the truck cab and tore the roof off and in one swift bite swallowed Jim and his friends. The second the bull-worm scooped the men into it's mouth he spit them out because he realized they were American when he tasted narcissism and arrogance. The men confusingly stumbled and were attempting to ask the bull-worm why he spared them when suddenly he shot into the ground and disappeared. The men decided it was best to not question what had just happened, but to continue on their trip to complete the Dave and Busters challenge.

If I ran Thanksgiving Dinner

If I were to be in charge of Thanksgiving dinner I would have my grandmother and mother help me prepare the dinner. The dinner would consist of sweet potato casserole, rolls, mashed potatoes, turkey, and for desert pumpkin pie and pumpkin role. I would only invite my family to this dinner. With my family being my Grandma, two Grandpas, Mother, Father, Sister, and my uncle. I would keep it at just family to keep it simple. With inviting family it is much simpler than inviting other people. If I invite family I know what they like and dislike therefore I will be able to prepare and accommodate to these certain preferences. Unlike most people I would not want to invite any celebrities or anyone of that nature due to the fact that I do not really know them therefore I could not accommodate them appropriately. I would not want to invite someone over if I did not know what they prefer. This is how my Thanksgiving dinner would go.

If I could go anywhere in the world.

I would go to Costa Rica. I would want to go to Costa Rica because I have never been there and want to visit a place that is a warm island environment. I prefer it there because I would do Eco-help I would help clean beaches and restore the pristine environment and help make a safe environment for the wildlife that habitats the beaches. While I was there I would finish building schools and homes for the benefits of the villagers. I want to swim with dolphins while I am there and go zip-lining also.

Why Technology is Important

Technology is important in life for any generation that is alive. It is important to have technology because it advances life and improves our life longevity and standard of living. Technology also opens millions of jobs and has a prospect of billions of dollars for anyone to take a slice of. Technology can help in everyday tasks but also in medical treatments. If we as a society went back one hundred years to 1913, the longevity of life and standard of living would be drastically lower. one hundred years ago dishes and clothes were washed by hand, entertainment was not available on demand, planes and cars had just been recently invented. While technology is helpful and important becoming dependent on it is something to be wary of.

What I would do if money were no object.

If money were no object my career choice would not change. I would still want to be a pharmaceutical researcher and developer. I would still want this because I enjoy doing the research aspect and would like to help people by developing prescription drugs or even some type of vaccine for diseases. To me research on the microbiological level is fun and what I want to spend my life doing. I would like to join the Marine Corps first though. I would like to do this because with a military background I could get contracted by the government or hired by a company that's contracted by the government for a biology job. I would like to work for the government because I could then work in a BSL-3 or BSL-4 lab. Labs at these levels really help society because in theses labs highly infectious and lethal diseases are researched and have cures made. This would help society very much.

My Favorite Hobby

My favorite hobby is metal detecting.I enjoy metal detecting because every time I dig a hit I have a little moment of excitement about what it could possibly be. It could be anything from a ring to a pocket watch or something as simple as a rail spike. Some things that I have found while metal detecting, that have a value, are a white gold ring, an old pocket watch, a screwdriver from the early to mid 1900's, and a 1950's Derringer cap gun. The screw driver I found comes apart and inside of the main screw driver is a smaller screwdriver and inside that screwdriver is another smaller one, this goes on for three more screwdrivers. Some items that are typical to find while metal detecting are invaluable things such as pennies, nickels, aluminum cans, beer bottle caps, gum wrappers, nails, scrap metal, and rail spikes. I typically only find rail spikes when I'm at a park near a rail road. To me metal detecting is a hobby and that is all it will ever be. Some people metal detect for a living. The people who do this for a living take it very seriously and will get into fights over little five foot by five foot squares of beach. To me metal detecting will always just be something fun to do every now and than, never a full time forty to sixty hour a week job.

Someone I Value

Someone I value would be my dad. While I value everyone in my family, I decided to write this about my dad. I value my dad because he came into my life and my mother's life when he did not have to. He came into our lives when i was just two years old. He did not have to become a part of our family, I was not his. Even though he did not have to, he chose to anyways. I hold my dad highly and have a high amount of respect for him for doing this, because he did not just be a dad but he became my father. My mom tells me that he actually fell in love with me before her. When he met my mom he went out and bought toys for me to play with, when me and my mom went over to his apartment. From day one I have been his son, not any other man's son. When my mom would get child support checks he would tell her to buy want she wanted for herself, because he was not going to let someone else pay for His son. My dad is more than just a dad, he is a father to me. Anybody can be a dad but it takes a real man to be a father. It takes a very special man to be a father to a child that, by blood is not his. Blood connection means nothing to me, who is there for you is what means something to me, and my father is here for me always and always will be. My father is a real man and I have an immaculate amount of respect for him. I love him and he loves me, blood truly means very little when someone claims a child who has already begun to grow up and takes on the responsibility of being that child's father.

The Best Thing I Did This Summer

The best thing i did this summer was going to Cedar Point all day with my sister, girlfriend, and my girlfriend's family. This was the best thing i did all summer, because I got to spend time with my little sister and girlfriend. My family means a lot to me, and so does my girlfriend. Being able to spend time with both of them was great. Our day at Cedar Point was great, because i rode the Top Thrill Dragster and a couple other rides for the first time. Being able to have both these important people with me for those experiences was an amazing feeling. We also went to the beach at Cedar Point on that day, which was nice when we just laid in the sun and swam in the water. It was beautiful outside, but was also very hot. So swimming felt great after standing in the long lines. I have had many good memories from this summer, but this one is by far the best.

The History of my Identity

My mother chose my name of Elliott simply because she liked it and it was more of an original name when i was born. My name does not have a history to it. I am the first Elliott of the family. While my name holds no history it does hold a meaning. The name Elliott is of Hebrew origin and means " The lord is our god." While my name has an origin in Hebrew I myself am not of Hebrew. Originally my mom wanted to name me Jude, and while it may not have made it as my first name it still found a way to walk itself into my name. I say this because Jude is my first middle name. I like my first name as Elliott, my name is not that common and I like the fact that it is not. I have only ever met one person with the name Elliott. Even though my name has become a more common name as time has marched forward, I feel that it is still original for someone of my age to have. I would not want any other name.

Loyalty. The number one rule in life.

My number one rule in life is loyalty. Loyalty is very important to me because there is more to loyalty than just itself. With loyalty there are other aspects that come along with it, such as, trust, respect, and honor. If two people are loyal to each other, then there will be a mutual amount of respect and honor for one another. Loyalty is of course, like many things, different from one person to the next. To me loyalty means sticking by a person no matter what. A person who is loyal to me will not talk about me behind my back or do anything to tarnish my reputation. Someone who is loyal to me would also not put me in a situation that would make me look worse than them just to save their own reputation. To me loyalty is very important because if somebody is not loyal to me i cannot trust them or respect them, because it shows that they will not treat me the same way.
